Peak District Landscape Photography Courses

Our landscape photography courses are held outdoors in carefully selected Peak District locations. They are designed for people who already know how to use their cameras in other than the “auto” or “scene” modes, and who want to immerse themselves in their photography for a whole day. They are the natural next step for people who have already been on a beginners’ level course.

Our next landscape photography courses will be taking place on the dates below. All these courses are limited to small groups of just 4 photographers to allow everyone to receive plenty of individual attention.

This intermediate level landscape photography course has been timed to capture some of the Peak District‘s woodlands in springtime when they are looking their finest. We will spend the first part of the day in woods not far from Matlock photographing bluebells and other spring wild flowers, as well as the impressive ruined steam engine house of a former lead mine. After a pub lunch, we will visit another nearby location – which could be a stone circle, industrial remains in one of the disused quarries, or the famous Cork Stone. The course is limited to a maximum of only 4 photographers, and places cost £99.00 each. Fully booked.

Photographing the Industrial Heritage of South Yorkshire

This course has now taken place, but you can see details of all our other courses over the coming months here.

Sunday May 29th, 10.30am to 6.30pm. Places cost £99.00 each.

This course will be limited to just six photographers – so everyone will receive plenty of individual attention and have their questions answered. Please contact us to request a booking form.

The relics of our industrial past can be extremely photogenic, and this unique workshop in and around Elsecar (between Sheffield and Barnsley in South Yorkshire) will give you the chance to photograph some excellent examples.

Most of the workshop will be spent at the former Hemingfield Colliery, where we will have exclusive access. This well preserved colliery was developed in the 1840s, and worked the Barnsley coal seam until 1920. From then until 1989, it worked as a pumping station to keep other local mines dry. The site was finally bought by the Friends of Hemingfield Colliery in 2014 – and apart from on open days – is not open to the public, so we are fortunate to be given exclusive access for this course. Part of the course fee will be going to help them conserve and protect the site. More details about the mine and its history can be seen here on their website. Digital camera courses, Sheffield and Saudi Arabia – the connection.

Last weekend, that connection was a little cottage at 1000 feet above sea level in the Derbyshire Peak District. This was the first digital camera course that Peak Digital Training was holding at our new location (see Peak District Photography Workshops – idyllic new location for details), and a very international affair it was too. One of our participants lives in Sheffield and South Africa, while the other currently lives in London, but is originally from Saudi Arabia (and has also spent several years studying in the US). We had plenty to chat about during the day apart from digital photography! Continue reading “Digital camera courses, Sheffield and Saudi Arabia – the connection.”
